Set amidst beautifully landscaped grounds, our Centre features an impressive selection of indoor and outdoor plants, gifts, homewares, pots, statues, outdoor furniture, gardening supplies, fish and accessories and a florist.
We are seeking a dedicated Plant Specialist to join our well-established and talented team.
Location: Dungog, NSW
Job Purpose: You will support the daily operations of our nursery, serving customers, making recommendations, supporting with plant care, and contributing to the overall maintenance of the stock.
Key Responsibilities:
Help with customer inquiries and providing sound gardening advice
Assist with planting, watering, and fertilising nursery plants
Maintain plant health by monitoring pests and diseases
Organise and manage plant displays to enhance visual appeal
Operate and maintain nursery equipment and tools
Perform general upkeep tasks such as weeding, pruning, and soil preparation
Required Qualifications/Attributes:
A broad knowledge of plants and soil improvement
A love for plants and customer service
Ideally the applicant would have previous experience in a nursery, florist or horticulture-related role
Intermediate knowledge of plant care, pest management, and gardening techniques
Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and bending
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Intermediate level computer skills including Microsoft office and Point of Sale systems (not essential, but preferred)
Key Competencies:
Ability to take initiative and get the job done to a high standard
Team player, willing to work with the existing team to keep the nursery operating smoothly for customers
Passion for gardening and plant care
Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and team members
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
Able to work weekends (not all weekends will be rostered, but being available on weekends is important)
Desirable but not essential
Formal training or certification in horticulture or related field
Experience with landscape design and plant propagation
Familiarity with plants and soil improvements
